Atlas Copco acquires

Atlas Copco has acquired Quiss Quality Inspection Systems and Service. In this way, the industrial group intends to strengthen its expertise in the field of visual quality assurance and robot guidance.

Quiss, based in Puchheim, Germany, specializes in system solutions for the visual inspection and monitoring of adhesive and sealant applications. Its core competence lies in image processing and the necessary algorithms as well as system design including hardware and software. The products are primarily used for quality control of adhesive and sealant application in the automotive industry. The Quiss portfolio also includes solutions for 2D and 3D position detection, robot guidance, completeness checks and can and can lid inspection. The company currently employs 45 people and generated sales of around EUR 8.4 million in 2017.

"With this acquisition, we are gaining expertise and know-how in the field of visual quality assurance and robot guidance," says Henrik Elmin, President of Atlas Copco's Industrial Technology Division. "This puts us in a position to offer our customers significant added value in the field of automation."

Quiss will be integrated into the Industrial Assembly Systems Division (IAS) of the Industrial Technology Division. The purchase price of the transaction is subordinated to Atlas Copco's market capitalization and will not be disclosed.
