Connecting PLCs to the cloud
Softing Industrial presents in cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS) an AWS Quick Start for the Docker container application 'edgeConnector Siemens'.
It demonstrates how Siemens PLCs can be connected to the AWS cloud in a secure and scalable way. The 'edgeConnector Siemens Quick Start' automates the deployment of Softing's edgeConnector Siemens, a Docker container application with gateway functionality, and AWS IoT SiteWise in the AWS cloud. A simulated Siemens S7-1500 PLC generates IoT sensor data that is sent to AWS via edgeConnector Siemens and visualized with AWS IoT SiteWise. According to the company, this complete deployment on AWS takes no more than ten minutes.
'edgeConnector Siemens' is the first commercially available gateway product from Softing that supports container technology. As a Docker container, it fits seamlessly into the AWS solution architecture for Industrial IoT and can be operated and managed efficiently, according to the provider.
