Softing Industrial launches version v1.20 of edgeConnector Siemens. The software module is based on container technology and connects Siemens controllers with industrial IoT applications. In addition to 'Simatic S7-1200' and 'S7-1500', 'Simatic S7-300/400' controllers are supported in the current version. Client applications have access to data via the OPC UA interoperability standard.

The software module can be configured locally via a built-in web interface or remotely via a REST interface. It can be seamlessly integrated into 'Azure IoT Edge' and 'AWS IoT Greengrass' and is made available via online directories such as 'Docker Hub'. Ease of use is achieved with virtualization and container technology. Important process and machine data is made available for IoT applications without having to change the configuration of the controller or the automation network. Advanced security functions, such as the management of access rights for individual client applications, increase the security of the entire solution.
