Connecting Modbus TCP controllers to IIoT applications

Softing is adding the edgeConnector Modbus to its edgeConnector product family, which is based on Docker technology.

Following the edgeConnector versions for connecting Simatic S7 and Sinumerik 840D controllers to IIoT applications, Softing is now introducing the edgeConnector Modbus. This Docker container is suitable for connecting Modbus TCP controllers, e.g. from Schneider Electric, Wago, Beckhoff or Phoenix Contact, to industrial IoT applications. It can also be used to record process variables from Modbus-compatible sensors. An integrated OPC UA server is used to connect data to higher-level management systems such as ERP, MES or process visualization systems. MQTT is another communication protocol that enables the direct integration of control data into private or public IoT cloud applications.

The product family can be configured locally via an integrated web interface or managed remotely via a REST API. Security standards such as SSL/TLS, X.509 certificates, authentication and data encryption are supported.
