ZVEI
New Chairman of the Management Board
On January 1, 2020, Dr. Wolfgang Weber will move from BASF to the ZVEI as the new Chairman of the Management Board. He succeeds Dr. Klaus Mittelbach, who will leave the association at the end of 2019.
Dr. Wolfgang Weber holds a doctorate in chemistry and has held various positions of responsibility at BASF since 2006, including Head of the Brussels office. He began his career at the German Chemical Industry Association. Weber sees the electrical industry as a leading sector of digitalization with important opportunities and challenges: "Society is facing a profound change: economically, technologically and environmentally. Digitalization and electrification are decisive levers for efficient and effective climate protection across all sectors. The electrical industry is in a key position here, which we as an association will support even more clearly," says Weber.
Weber succeeds Dr. Klaus Mittelbach, who was Chairman of the Management Board of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association(ZVEI) for eleven years. The association represents the common interests of the electrical industry and associated service companies in Germany and at international level. In 2018, the industry's turnover amounted to 193.5 billion euros. It employs 890,000 people in Germany and more than 766,000 abroad.
