Efco has developed an IoT starter kit for initial practical experience with cloud, edge, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).

In addition to a fanless industrial PC with 2 x GbE, USB 3.0 and 16 digital I/Os, it also includes an IO-Link temperature sensor from ifm and an MQTT-capable IO-Link master. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, TeamViewer IoT and Node-RED are pre-installed on the IPC, enabling even beginners to transfer sensor data to the cloud within half an hour. According to the provider, the MQTT-based approach is crucial. The first project to emerge from the IoT starter kit optimizes energy consumption in hotels - by drawing certain conclusions from the patterns of power consumption and thus controlling heating and air conditioning accordingly.
