Avnet Embedded
Economical SMARC module
Avnet Embedded introduces the energy-efficient MSC SM2S-IMX8ULP module family, another member of the 'SMARC 2.1.1' product range.
The scalable system-on-modules are based on an i.MX 8ULP crossover application processor from NXP Semiconductor, which combines a single or dual core ARM Cortex-A35 application processor with up to 1 GHz, an ARM Cortex-M33 real-time core and 2D/3D graphics units (GPUs). The integrated Tensilica Hifi 4 DSP and the on-chip Fusion DSP from Cadence support audio and speech recognition as well as edge AI and machine learning applications. The thermal design power (TDP) is less than 1 W. An energy-saving 2 Gbyte LPDDR4 SDRAM with 2400 MT/s and up to 256 Gbyte eMMC flash memory are available on the module. Interfaces for embedded systems such as Ethernet, USB 2.0, CAN-FD, dual-channel LVDS or MIPI-DSI for controlling displays and MIPI-CSI for connecting a camera are provided by the module. It is backwards compatible with the SMARC 2.0 standard and designed for operation in a temperature range of -40 to +85 °C.
