Embedded computing with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise
At embedded world 2022, Avnet Embedded showed a demo setup with an ARM-based embedded computing module that integrates an i.MX 8M processor from NXP Semiconductors running the full Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise operating system.
The Windows 10 application can run on the module without modifications such as recompiling or rewriting. In the past, only a stripped-down version of Windows on ARM was available with Windows IoT Core, Windows CE/Compact or Windows RT. Now customers can easily install Windows 10 IoT Enterprise on the ARM-based SMARC module families with i.MX 8 from Avnet Embedded without having to worry about customizing the operating system. The demo setup consists of the SimpleFlex Carrier Board MSC SM2S-MB-EP5 with the SMARC module MSC SM2S-IMX8M. The compact MSC SM2S-IMX8M module integrates an i.MX 8M Quad processor from NXP Semiconductors.
