Weidmüller
Networking down to the smallest variable
Weidmüller is expanding the 'u-OS' operating system with the 'Data Hub'. It networks applications installed on u-OS with each other, making it easier for users to make variables from one application visible to another and to use them.
The u-OS Data Hub will be available on the operating system with the update to version 2.2.0. The extension serves as a central location that clearly displays the data of the installed apps. Users can network the values there and make them usable for other applications. Providers such as 'Procon-Connect' send data points to the data hub. Procon-Connect provides various drivers such as the PLCHandler from Codesys, a Modbus and OPC UA client or access to Allen Bradley controllers. The individual variables can then be selected individually and provided as a data point for the Data Hub. This includes whether a value is read-only or can be written. The Data Hub also displays the value with a time stamp and the data type of the variable. The Data Hub facilitates the networking of different apps. Using HTTP requests, data from heterogeneous machines can be displayed and networked in the Data Hub - without complex programming. This makes the Data Hub particularly suitable for production processes that are not based on OPC UA.
