Smart Factory opens in the USA
Trumpf has opened a new Smart Factory at its Farmington, Connecticut, site. The investment of 40 million US Dollars expands the existing production capacity by 5,200 m².
Sheet metal parts for locally produced machine tools are manufactured in the plant. Among other things, laser cutting machines, bending machines and welding systems are used, which are networked and automated.
As part of its local-for-local strategy, TRUMPF produces all laser cutting machines and associated automation solutions for the North American market in Farmington. A new line for laser tube cutting machines has also been set up. "The new Smart Factory is a clear sign of our commitment to our US customers and our deep appreciation for their business," said Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller, CEO of Trumpf.
The new building was designed by Barkow Leibinger architects. It has smart glass windows and is prepared for a solar energy system.
