First CloudEdge solution for 5G
On September 20 in Munich, Huawei presented the first 5G-based Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) solution called MEC@CloudEdge.

According to Huawei, its Mobile CloudEdge solution is now the first MEC solution for 5G.
Dai Jisheng, President of Huawei Cloud Packet Core Product Line, said: "As one of the promoters of the MEC standard, Huawei has focused on research and development to develop the MEC architecture based on the industry standard. MEC@CloudEdge is the first MEC solution for 5G from our R&D labs."
Jisheng points out that high-quality videos and augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) applications in particular require an extremely low delay in order to deliver optimal results. The MEC@CloudEdge solution is based on a cloud-based network architecture that guarantees a correspondingly low delay, even with the broadband requirements for AR/VR. Secondly, the MEC@CloudEdge solution uses Local Break Out (LBO) technology, which enables operators and users to access local content and apps through MEC. Content can be read, written and transferred flexibly and quickly without passing through CN gateways by using local distribution of content and apps.
