At the beginning of August, Siemens acquired a majority stake of 85% in Materials Solutions. The company, based in Worcester, UK, currently employs more than 20 engineers and, according to Siemens, is a pioneer in the use of the so-called "Selective Laser Melting" (SLM) process for the production of high-performance metal components. In this process, metal powder is melted piece by piece into a solid workpiece with the help of a laser.

"With the acquisition of Materials Solutions, we are securing world-leading expertise in materials and process development for additive manufacturing, particularly with high-temperature-resistant superalloys. The company's strength lies in its ability to convert 3D models into high-quality components within a short period of time. Materials Solutions fits perfectly into our growth strategy and fits seamlessly into our vision to increase the use of future-oriented technologies in our Power and Gas portfolio," said Willi Meixner, CEO of the Siemens Power and Gas Division.

The remaining 15% of the company will be held by the company's founder Carl Brancher. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the agreement.
