Continuously optimizing with the Digital Enterprise

As a result of advancing industrial digitalization, machine and plant manufacturers need flexibility in order to reliably meet requirements. A consistently digitalized value chain makes this possible: the digital company with the digital twin.

With the Digital Enterprise, Siemens offers a unique portfolio of industrial software and automation technologies that seamlessly connects the virtual and real worlds with digital threads. It enables companies to meet rapidly changing consumer trends: Innovate faster, enable sustainable and flexible manufacturing and continuous optimization of products and production. With a comprehensive range of Digital Enterprise Services, customers receive targeted support on the path to digital transformation - from consulting and implementation to optimization during ongoing operations.

Three practical examples from real machines demonstrate the benefits of consistent, end-to-end digitalization of the entire value chain. The Digital Twin product or machine enables parallel work across disciplines and the use of simulations for early testing and validation. Thanks to virtual commissioning with Digital Twin production, the real commissioning of a machine or entire production lines can take place faster and with less risk. The fully integrated Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) portfolio supports the efficient development and implementation of machines and lines. Networked software solutions and the cross-industry automation standard Module Type Packages (MTP) make it possible to integrate new machines flexibly and plug and play into existing lines.

The performance of the Digital Twin makes it possible to map and analyze data from operation, as shown in a packaging machine from TrakRap. The complete end-to-end approach is also evident in the area of machine tools, as shown by the example of a newly developed robot-based 3D printing system, the AM Flexbot. With the Digital Enterprise, machine and plant manufacturers can react quickly to changing requirements with a new level of flexibility.
