Terminal blocks - TE negotiates with ABB

TE Connectivity (TE), a provider of connectivity and sensor solutions, has entered into negotiations with ABB to acquire ABB's Entrelec brand terminal block business.

The planned acquisition is intended to give TE a broader and more complete product platform and thus open up new growth opportunities.

ABB 's Entrelec terminal block business was founded in 1920 as Entrelec and today serves customers in more than 70 countries. It consists of research and development, product design, marketing and sales, and management in Chassieu, France, with manufacturing facilities in France and Poland.

"We believe that the combination of the two portfolios under the aegis of TE will make the product offering far more competitive and both customers and employees will benefit from the expanded capabilities," says Tarak Mehta, President ABB Electrification Products Division. TE would be able to offer a complete power, signal and data transmission system especially for harsh environments.

The transaction is subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions, including regulatory approvals and agreement with employee representatives.
