For certified safety encoders up to SIL3/ PLe

iC-RB from iC-Haus is an optical twin-scan encoder IC with an absolute resolution of 24 bits in the control channel and 15 bits in the safety channel.

It can be used stand-alone - without external interpolation for high-resolution safety encoders. The absolute encoder IC has two separate and independent channels so that it meets the high redundancy requirements of functional safety concepts up to SIL3 or PLe for position detection. It can be used in particular for SIL encoders and motor feedback systems with single or multiturn function. Code disks with a diameter of 26.5 to 42.5 mm are supported. The encoder IC scans a 10-bit pseudo-random track (PRC) on the code disk via two autonomous channels. In addition, two high-resolution phased array photo sensors read an incremental track with 1024 cycles per revolution. The sin/cos signals generated in this way are used for on-chip interpolation to increase the resolution. Control Channel and Safety Channel offer a BiSS slave interface, which is compatible with the BiSS safety protocol, and an SSI master multiturn interface.
