Change in top management

Takeshi Sugiyama will become President and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric on April 1, 2018. The global company has now officially announced this in Japan. Sugiyama succeeds Masaki Sakuyama, who is moving to the position of Chairman.

Takeshi Sugiyama's career at Mitsubishi Electric began in 1979 as an engineer. In 2014, he was appointed Executive Officer and Group President of the Living Environment & Digital Media Group. Two years later, he took the next step as Senior Vice President and Group President of the Living Environment & Digital Media Equipment Group. In 2017, Sugiyama was promoted to Representative Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and Group President of Living Environment & Digital Media Equipment Group.

The predecessor in his new position - Masaki Sakuyama - moves to the position of Chairman at Mitsubishi Electric. Sakuyama started his career at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in 1977. In 2010, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Senior General Manager of the Corporate Strategic Planning Division. Prior to his appointment as President and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric in 2014, he served as Executive Vice President and Group President of the Semiconductor & Devices Division.
