Baumer
New Innovation Center in Switzerland
Baumer is building a modern development center at its headquarters in Frauenfeld (Switzerland) for 20 million Swiss francs. The new building is the second major investment in innovation within a few years.
Dr. Oliver Vietze, CEO of the Baumer Group, is looking forward to the new building, which will provide the company, which specializes in smart sensor solutions for factory and process automation, with 5,000 m2 of additional office space for around 120 employees. "The new building will enable us to expand our development capacities at the headquarters," said Dr. Vietze at the ground-breaking ceremony on 29 March. The teams are due to move in here in late summer 2023.
Dr. Vietze attaches great importance to the energy concept, which marks a further step towards CO2 neutrality. "The Innovation Center is set to become a showcase project, particularly in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency," says Vietze. A complete solar building envelope will generate electricity. Baumer uses geothermal probes and a heat pump to heat the interior in winter and cool it in summer. In addition, Baumer only uses CO2-neutral electricity from Swiss hydropower as part of the 'Baumer Blue' sustainability initiative.
