Leuze at the SPS 2023
From intralogistics to security
At the Leuze stand, visitors can find out about solutions for the sensor manufacturer's focus industries - including intralogistics. The topic of safety is also a major focus here.
One of Leuze 's five focus industries is intralogistics. The company is presenting its new developments in this area with various exhibits - for example with a fast and flexible shuttle system that can handle a wide variety of container formats. This is made possible by the use of various sensors. The safety challenges in intralogistics will be highlighted using an AGV in operation, which is protected by the 'RSL 400' safety laser scanner. Leuze meets the demand for ever smaller sensors with the 'AMS 100i' position sensor, which, according to CTO Dr. Henning Grönzin, is "the most compact positioning system with the smallest blind area on the market".
In terms of safety solutions, Leuze will be presenting a transfer station between the AGV and the robot cell. The AGV can enter and exit automatically without interrupting the processes, while access to the cell remains continuously and seamlessly secured.
As a manufacturer of network-compatible sensors, Leuze has to meet the security requirements of the OT infrastructure. According to Dr. Grönzin, a key aspect of these requirements is maintaining supply chain security in order to minimize the risk of supply chain attacks. The implementation of concepts such as 'security by design' and 'security by default' is essential for this. 'Security by default' describes a secure and locked delivery state in which the sensor is optimally protected against manipulation. The aim is to enable simple, user-friendly, but at the same time safe and risk-free initial commissioning of the sensor. For this reason, Leuze integrates a connection to 'Keynoa' into its sensors. Keynoa enables 'zero touch' commissioning despite 'security by default' and in compliance with the principles of the 'secure supply chain'.
