IO-Link
Cross-manufacturer data platform
With the 'IODDfinder', the IO-Link community has created a central manufacturer-independent database for IO device descriptions. This creates a central access point for all available IODDs - useful for manufacturers and users alike.
The device description provides information about the functionality of an IO-Link device. As this piece of software code is not an executable program, the IODD is to be understood less as driver software and more as a kind of template for the functions of an IO-Link device. The IODD is an essential component of a device and must be accessible to the user. A central, manufacturer-independent database for IODDs facilitates the work of IO-Link users in their daily work with the technology.
The 'IODDfinder' online service is available on the Internet. Its use is free of charge for users and members. The data portal currently lists more than 3500 IO-Link devices from 38 manufacturers. This gives users an overview of the range of available IO-Link devices - sensors and actuators as well as accessories. It offers manufacturers of IO-Link devices the opportunity to provide additional and background information on their devices in addition to the IODDs.
