Automation technology is undergoing continuous change as part of the dynamic development of industrial communication. Industrial communication was and is a driving force behind this process. It has enabled the migration from centralized to decentralized automation systems, allows the use of distributed intelligence and connects the OT world with the IT world. As the world's leading open industrial networking standards, Profibus, Profinet and IO-Link offer full consistency with a high level of application orientation for end-to-end communication from the field level to the corporate management level.

Key topics of the PI Conference 2023

This year, the PI Conference will be held under the guiding theme of "PI technologies for digital transformation". The presentations will therefore focus on digitalization in the industrial environment. Aspects such as semantics & information models, horizontal and vertical communication as well as flexible and energy-efficient production systems will be discussed.

Essential topics also include the integration of TSN and OPC UA in Profinet, security measures, the definition of semantic aspects in cooperation with other organizations such as the OPC Foundation, IDTA and ECLASS, as well as innovations in sensor communication such as IO-Link and Ethernet-APL. Other topics recently added to PI's technology portfolio, such as the "omlox" real-time location standard in buildings and the "MTP" standard for modular production systems, will also round off the program.

Wednesday will start with keynote speeches and the keynote address, while the following day will see discussions on current trends and developments, examples and the technology in detail. In addition to the PI technology communities, the target group also includes users and operators - from decision-makers to specialists.
