Siemens opens Cyber Security Operation Center
Siemens has opened 'Cyber Security Operation Centers' (CSOC) in Lisbon, Munich and Milford (Ohio/USA) for services to protect industrial plants.
From the three CSOCs, Siemens industrial security specialists check industrial plants worldwide for potential cyber threats, warn companies in the event of security incidents and coordinate proactive countermeasures. These protective measures are part of Siemens' comprehensive Plant Security Services, with which the Group supports companies in the manufacturing and process industry in facing the constantly changing security threats.
The Plant Security Services range from analyzing the security situation (Security Assessment) and setting up protective measures such as firewalls or virus protection programs (Security Implementation) to the continuous monitoring of plants with Managed Security Services, which is now being carried out from the CSOCs. If the Siemens experts identify an increased risk, they warn customers at an early stage, make recommendations for proactive countermeasures and coordinate their implementation. The measures are based on how critical the incident is and what impact it is likely to have on the customer's business.
The protective measures include, for example, adapting firewall rules or providing updates to close security gaps. Siemens also provides forensic analyses of security incidents. This enables companies to create reports that comply with international standards such as ISO 27002 or IEC 62443 and legal requirements such as the IT Security Act in Germany. In addition, companies gain transparency about the security status of their plants. Products from cooperation partner Intel Security are used as part of Plant Security Services. These include: McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Application Control, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) and McAfee Enterprise Security Manager with Security Information and Event Management.
