IT decision-makers mistrust the cloud
According to a survey commissioned by Intel Security, many German IT decision-makers distrust the cloud. Is this due to data protection, fear of data loss or loyalty to providers?
The majority of German respondents (71%) stated that their company has been using cloud computing for over a year and would trust its use. At just under 54%, the private cloud is used most frequently. Only eight percent of German respondents completely trust public cloud providers with their sensitive data.
Many companies already use several cloud services. As a result, they often do not know exactly where which data is stored and what their cloud structure looks like. These and other astonishing results can be found in the picture gallery:
In cloud computing, the era of implementation is now beginning. "The growing confidence of IT decision makers in cloud computing is driving this shift," said Raj Samani, Chief Technology Officer, Intel Security EMEA.
The future for businesses, governments and consumers lies in the cloud," says Jim Reavis, CEO of the Cloud Security Alliance. Intel believes that cloud computing is essential for the use of networked production facilities as part of Industry 4.0, especially for Germany as an industrial location.
Methodology
In the survey conducted by Vanson Bourne, 1,200 IT decision-makers with a major influence on cloud security in their organizations in France, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Australia, Spain, the UK and the USA were surveyed (350 respondents in the USA, 150 each in the UK and Spain and 100 each in France, Brazil, Canada, Germany and Australia). The respondents work in organizations with 251 to 5000 employees.
