Secure password management for the TIA Portal
Wibu-Systems has developed a password provider for the TIA Portal from version 14 SP1, which is linked to the Siemens Password API. The solution is designed to optimize write protection and thus increase the access security of engineering data.
Visitors to SPS IPC Drives 2017 can find out at the Wibu-Systems stand (Hall 7, Stand 660) how they can store and manage their TIA Portal passwords in the CmDongle protection hardware. The engineering data stored in TIA Portal is often very sensitive data. As teams collaborate extremely effectively online, access restrictions are crucial, according to Wibu Managing Director Oliver Winzenried, because they ensure that only authorized users can view and edit the projects for which they have full rights.
The CmDongles are based on CodeMeter technology and contain modern, proprietary encryption methods based on public, symmetric and asymmetric standards such as AES 256-bit, RSA 2048-bit and ECC. They are available in various designs such as USB, optionally also with memory, as memory cards for SD, microSD, CF and CFast and as ASICs. Access control via timers or limit counters determines how users can access engineering data or whether they can change it.
