Automatica / MSRM
New platform for AI and robotics
Under the name "munich_i", the automation and robotics trade fair Automatica and the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) are jointly launching an AI and robotics platform.
Under the motto "intelligence empowering tomorrow", the "munich_i" platform at Automatica from December 8 to 11, 2020 will provide answers to economically and socially urgent questions such as: How can artificial intelligence be used to make work safer and more productive? How can AI already be used today for challenges in health or mobility? The centerpiece of "munich_i" is a high-tech summit on December 8. Other elements throughout the duration of the trade fair include the special show "AI Society", the elite young talent competition "Robothon" and the "Robot Driving License" to teach the basics. The patron of "munich_i" is Bavaria's Minister President Markus Söder.
The high-tech format organized by Automatica, MSRM and TUM is said to be the only one of its kind in the world and is intended to bring together leading international figures from the fields of AI and robotics in Munich. The mission of the joint project is to promote responsible technological change that puts people at the center. "munich_i" aims to provide a stage for the ideas of renowned pioneers and lateral thinkers and promote knowledge transfer and collaboration. Science, business, politics and society are to be networked there.
At the heart of "munich_i" is the Hightech Summit on December 8, the first day of Automatica, which will be attended by international experts such as Prof. Oussama Khatib, Director of Stanford Robotics Lab, Dr. Alessandro Curioni, Director of IBM Research Lab, Prof. Dieter Fox, Department of Computer Science & Engineering at University of Washington, Prof. Carme Torras, Research Professor at the Institut de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial Barcelona, and Infineon CEO Dr. Reinhard Ploss. The summit is aimed at company bosses and those responsible for production, research and development, technology and digital transformation. The aim of "munich_i" is to provide them with guidance on which technologies will be relevant in the future and which industry standards will prevail. In other words, which areas and topics will change business models and need to be incorporated into companies' strategies today?
"munich_i" Director Prof. Dr. Sami Haddadin wants "munich_i" to provide answers to society's most pressing questions: "Artificial intelligence and robotics are on the verge of a technological quantum leap. "munich_i" presents leading international minds from research, technology and industry who put people at the center of their work and thus change our lives in the future." The new platform will also help to develop Munich as a high-tech location into a global center for AI.
AI.Society, Robothon and robot driver's license
In addition to the Hightech Summit on December 8, "munich_i" also includes other offerings on artificial intelligence and robotics during Automatica:
AI.Society: on over 1000 square meters, trade fair visitors will learn from pioneering AI initiatives from MSRM/TUM and selected start-ups about what will be a reality in health, work and mobility in the future.
Robothon: In a multi-day competition, the international academic elite will develop solutions based on a standardized AI and robotics platform and demonstrate their skills.
Robot driving license: Trade fair visitors have the opportunity to learn the basics of human-robot collaboration hands-on.
