Drone use in the business environment

Intel and Deutsche Messe want to demonstrate the wide range of applications for drones in companies at Cebit 2017: In the 'Intel Cebit Drone Park', visitors will be able to experience the digital value chain surrounding unmanned aerial vehicles.

How can companies and organizations use drones profitably? This year's Cebit is one of the events addressing this question.

"More than ever, Cebit 2017 is about showcasing digitalization in a way that can be experienced and touched," said Oliver Frese, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, organizer of Cebit. "The Intel Cebit Drone Park will impressively demonstrate the wide range of scenarios in which digitally controlled drones can now be used effectively and how new business potential can be tapped." As one of the strong drivers of the Internet of Things, drones will play a key strategic role at this year's trade fair, said Frese. "With our involvement in this project, we are underpinning Cebit's focus on showcases and applications."

Several different drone deployment scenarios will be on display for visitors to see on the outdoor area in front of Hall 2: During their flight missions over a 1:15 scale oil platform or solar collectors on the open-air site, the drones will produce extensive data, which will be analyzed, visualized and converted into usable results in the control station. A comprehensive server infrastructure in the drone park forms the basis for the data analysis.

The results and 3D visualizations can form the basis for decisions - such as whether the solar system needs to be serviced. Intel also wants to work with the trade fair to illustrate how drones as part of the Internet of Things and the data they generate can be used for new forms of value creation. The flight shows and other examples will demonstrate what is already feasible today, how quickly drone technology is developing and how companies and organizations can use drones profitably.

In addition to the planned 'Intel Cebit Drone Park', Cebit 2017 will also feature the 'Unmaned Systems & Solutions' exhibition area in nearby Hall 17. Over 30 exhibitors will showcase drone technologies there. An international conference will also deal with technical and legal issues.
