Kistler
Third acquisition in 2017
At the end of August, the Kistler Group announced its third acquisition this year with the takeover of Vester Elektronik. In addition to gaining expertise in the field of optoelectronic sensors, the aim of the acquisition is also to establish a competence center for optics.
Since its foundation 50 years ago, Vester Elektronik, a family-owned company acquired by Kistler, has focused on optoelectronic sensors for control and process monitoring. The portfolio also includes testing and sorting systems for testing metal and hybrid parts. The products are mainly used in the stamping and forming industry as well as in turned parts and fastening technology.
As a result of the acquisition, Vester Elektronik will benefit from a global corporate structure and new resources to expand its business and open up new markets. According to Kistler, Vester customers will also benefit from the global service and sales network. The previous external managing director Frank Oppenländer will continue to manage the company with its approximately 80 full-time employees from the Straubenhardt site. In the medium term, there are plans to expand the site and recruit additional specialists.
Establishment of a competence center
In addition to gaining know-how, Kistler also aims to establish an optical competence center in Germany. "This new technology complements Kistler's classic measurement technology. It will open up new applications that will enable us to serve the needs of existing and new customers even better," says Rolf Sonderegger, CEO Kistler Group.
For Kistler, the purchase of Vester is already the third acquisition this year, following the takeovers of the MES provider IOS and the provider of mobile speed measurement devices eso.
