Endress+Hauser has had a strategic focus on process and laboratory analysis for many years and generates almost a quarter of its turnover with analysis technology. SpectraSensors and Kaiser Optical Systems were merged under the name Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis in order to bundle their expertise in laser-based measurement processes. Both companies offer product lines for laser-based optical analysis.

The two US companies were acquired in 2012 and 2013. Absorption spectroscopy using tunable laser diodes (TDLAS) from SpectraSensors strengthened the Group's position in gas analysis. Kaiser Optical Systems, a provider of Raman spectroscopy, has expertise in analyzing solids, liquids and gases for a variety of applications, including vaccine production.

"We want to further develop and expand our offering for laboratory and process analysis. Together with Endress+Hauser Liquid Analysis and the subsidiary Analytik Jena, Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis forms an important element of our Group's analysis strategy," says Dr. Manfred Jagiella, who is responsible for the analysis business on the Endress+Hauser Executive Board.

John Schnake will lead the new unit as Managing Director. Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan/USA. This is also where the Raman spectroscopic instruments are developed and manufactured. The TDLAS analyzers will continue to be produced in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The newly formed company has around 200 employees and remains fully owned by the Endress+Hauser Group.
