Watson technology for SAP
IBM and SAP are strengthening their partnership to link business processes with Watson technology. The aim is to enable users to take the step towards the cognitive enterprise.
With the agreed cooperation, SAP and IBM aim to better integrate and further develop their technologies and services. For example, IBM's Watson technology is to be integrated into the SAP HANA business suite, with cognitive interfaces being added to HANA. Watson should enable structured and unstructured data to be processed equally, patterns to be recognized and correlations and hidden connections to be established. The system can interact with people in natural language.
"We are creating a complementary set of joint solutions to help our clients rapidly transform into a cognitive enterprise," says Senior Vice President Bridget van Kralingen, IBM Global Business Services.

And SAP users who prefer to map their business processes in their own data center or hybrid will be able to access server technologies from IBM's Power Systems division in the future.
The companies also want to pool their expertise in order to jointly develop new user interfaces that can be customized for customers with little effort. Joint consulting models and industry-specific guidelines for the digital transformation of companies complement the cooperation.
In order to achieve the cooperation goals and work together on cognitive business applications and industry-specific solutions, SAP and IBM are pooling their resources at two joint development centers in Walldorf and Palo Alto, USA.
