The cloud-based solutions leverage Siemens ' building technology expertise and IBM 's Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to help real estate owners across all industries achieve both their business and energy efficiency goals. To this end, Siemens is integrating software from IBM's Watson IoT business unit, including analytics and asset management, into its cloud-based energy and sustainability management platform 'Navigator'. This combination is intended to help corporate real estate customers in various ways:

  • Owners and operators of corporate real estate can use internal and external data on Siemens' 'Navigator' platform to compare the performance of their buildings with similar buildings and forecast operational running costs.
  • Predictive analytics can be used to analyze and diagnose faults so that potential problems can be addressed before an incident occurs.
  • Text recognition and analysis to validate energy supplier invoices can be used to detect errors and improve data quality.
  • Mobile applications help to carry out energy audits and create energy reports from any location.

The 'Navigator' platform includes a customizable suite of services to monitor building system performance, energy demand and energy supply in individual buildings, campus-wide and across an entire real estate portfolio. The platform also integrates with other systems, including Siemens' 'Desigo CC' building management system and third-party technologies. The new functionality will be rolled out in packages over the coming years, with initial releases planned for May and October.
