Siemens integrates 'Electrical Designer' into TIA Cloud

Siemens is expanding the TIA Selection Tool Cloud to include the 'Electrical Designer'. The new software automates central work steps in electrical planning, checks conformity with IEC 60204-1 standards and enables collaborative work in the cloud.

Siemens has added the 'Electrical Designer' function to the 'TIA Selection Tool Cloud'. The software module supports the standard-compliant dimensioning of electrical equipment for machines - from switchgear to cables - and automates previously manual processes.

The solution automatically selects suitable components for the main circuit, performs short-circuit calculations, dimensions cables and creates the necessary documentation. It is based on the IEC 60204-1 standard and, according to Siemens, can halve the planning time.

Another advantage is the cloud architecture: projects can be processed from any location and all participants always have access to the latest data. The software also enables the simulation of various short-circuit scenarios in order to adapt systems to different grid conditions.

"Electrical Designer from Siemens is a quantum leap in electrical planning. It’s the world's first browser-based solution to combine standards compliance, short-circuit analysis, and automatic dimensioning. It cuts planning time in half, eliminates errors, and provides specific standards knowledge. For us, this is the future of engineering," says Andreas Matthé, CEO Electrical Products at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
