AI-based acoustic quality control
'Sounce', an AI-supported acoustic testing software from MHP, has been in use at e-bike drive manufacturer Fazua, part of Porsche eBike Performance, since April 2024. The software detects noise anomalies in production.
Specifically, the software-as-a-service solution at Fazua analyzes characteristic structure-borne sound patterns of various components and identifies deviations in real time. Potential causes are examined in detail. This includes gearbox, bearing, assembly and electronic faults as well as component contamination. The analyzed data is visualized in a web application at Fazua so that employees can rely on complete documentation of the data. The quality inspection thus becomes an automated system that enables a much faster evaluation and helps to constantly improve quality assurance in production.
AI-based sound recognition at Fazua requires just a few steps, ranging from recording via minimally invasive sensor technology, data acquisition and evaluation of the sounds and a comparison with the quality criteria, to training the deep learning algorithm based on the available data, visualization, evaluation, comparison and verification of the sounds.
'Sounce' is one of the products from MHP's Industrial Cloud Solutions portfolio and was presented for the first time at the Hannover Messe 2023. To date, a total of seven solutions from the new business unit have been launched on the market. Sounce is designed as a usage-based offering model based on a software-as-a-service solution. A modular cloud infrastructure enables flexible system deployment with usage-based billing options in various application scenarios.
Fazua specializes in innovative drive systems and concepts for aesthetic, agile and lightweight e-bikes. It emerged as a start-up from a university project in 2013. Fazua has been part of Porsche eBike Performance since August 2022. Development work is carried out at the headquarters in Ottobrunn and at the subsidiary Porsche eBike Performance d.o.o. near Zagreb, Croatia.
