Smart services and cloud technology bundled

On January 1, 2020, the Phoenix Contact Group bundled its digital service portfolio in the subsidiary Phoenix Contact Smart Business in Berlin. This includes all activities relating to cloud technology and data analytics as well as software services.

Phoenix Contact is relocating all business activities relating to cloud technologies from the Industry Management and Automation division to Berlin.

The former Berlin-based start-up SmartB Energy Management, in which Phoenix Contact 's corporate venture capital company acquired a stake in 2017 and most recently owned 100%, will be merged into the new company. All business activities relating to cloud technologies will be transferred from the IMA (Industry Management and Automation) division, which is based in Bad Pyrmont, to the new company.

This company will offer software services for the entire group of companies in the areas of development, operation and sales - Software-as-a-Service. The company will have a team of 22 employees and act as a Data Science Center of Competence for the Phoenix Contact Group. The Managing Director is Mathias Weßelmann, who was previously responsible for cloud engineering in the Automation Systems business unit.
