On-board electronics for readout and parameterization

With the on-board electronics from Bosch Rexroth, analogue hydraulic valves can be read out and parameterized via smartphone and Bluetooth.

Bosch Rexroth is the first component to equip the new proportional pressure control valves with the new digital on-board electronics. On the hardware side, they offer improvements with volume flow-independent pressure control and a linear setpoint-pressure characteristic curve in four pressure stages. The valves have both an integrated and a connection for an external pressure sensor.

During initial commissioning, the components identify themselves via their digital nameplate and the technician can start parameterization via smartphone. An LED lights up blue during the connection and shows the commissioning engineer which proportional pressure reducing valve he is currently connected to.

Technicians can select predefined parameter sets or define them themselves. These can be saved and transferred to identical valves. The patent-pending slider in the app simplifies optimization: when the slider is moved between the 'moderate' and 'aggressive' settings, the software automatically adjusts all corresponding parameters to the selected dynamics.

Condition monitoring without additional effort

For end users, the new digital on-board electronics significantly increase flexibility for process changes. If, for example, a tool twice as heavy as before is used on a press for a production changeover, a different valve often has to be used with previous machines. With the new generation, simply calling up the app is enough to adjust the parameters accordingly. This saves the end user the costs of a conversion and the associated machine downtime.

End users can also use condition monitoring without any additional effort. They can call up operating data such as temperature or operating hours via the app using the diagnostics button and thus protect themselves from surprises. Users can also store this status monitoring automatically in the machine control system via IO-Link. Condition monitoring extends the service life of components and increases availability.
