Monitor vibrations in three axes with IO-Link

The 'VVB30x' condition monitoring sensor from ifm continuously records vibrations in all three spatial directions.

The sensor uses the recorded measured values to calculate status indicators for evaluating the condition of the machine: information on fatigue (v-RMS), mechanical friction (a-RMS), shocks (a-peak) and bearing wear (crest factor). The surface temperature is also transmitted as an additional wear indicator. In the Basic Condition Monitoring version, the sensor from ifm can continuously analyze any unbalance occurring in the machine and communicate it reliably if necessary; the sensor also records the machine operating hours based on the machine-related vibration level. In the DataScience Condition Monitoring version, the device also offers a smart bearing demodulation process for safe and continuous bearing analysis, known as BearingScout. The vibration sensor uses IO-Link for data transmission, device diagnostics and parameterization. This allows users to implement vibration monitoring and analysis in any SCADA system via the standard fieldbus protocols or simultaneously via a standardized MQTT or HTTPS interface in any IT system, regardless of the manufacturer. Configuration is also carried out via IO-Link: Based on the respective machine category in accordance with ISO 20816-3, predefined limit value profiles are stored directly in the device.
