Günter Herkommer,

Chief Technology Officer Siegfried Russwurm leaves

Siegfried Russwurm, member of the Managing Board of Siemens, will not extend his contract, which expires at the end of March 2017. This decision was made by mutual agreement between Russwurm and the Supervisory Board of Siemens.

According to speculation in several media outlets, Russwurm is being discussed as a possible successor to Wolfgang Büchele, CEO of gas manufacturer Linde.

Russwurm has been a member of the Executive Board since January 2008 and, in addition to his role as Chief Technology Officer, was most recently a partner at Executive Board level for the management of the independently managed healthcare business. He was also regionally responsible for the Middle East and the CIS. "Siegfried Russwurm has been with Siemens since 1992 and has played a decisive role in shaping the company in many areas. I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for this," said Gerhard Cromme, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser added: "As Chief Technology Officer, he played a key role in ensuring that Siemens is once again a global leader in the important areas of electrification, automation and digitalization."

Siegfried Russwurm himself commented on his impending departure with the words: "I have spent a large part of my professional life at Siemens. I will always remain associated with the company and its employees. Nevertheless, I do not want to close myself off to possible new challenges."
