Process control and optimization
The KBox A-150-WKL from Kontron, the latest member of the 'KBox' family, has been specially designed for IoT gateway applications in industrial environments.
It is equipped with a 3.5-inch SBC and integrated Intel Core i3-8145UE/ i5-8365UE/ i7-8665UE or Celeron 4305UE processors with up to four cores and 4.4 GHz each (burst). Thanks to the 50 mm x 180 mm x 134 mm design and the DIN rail mounting option, the computer can also be used in small installation spaces. According to the manufacturer, the fanless design with a rotatable heat sink ensures high availability in harsh industrial environments at temperatures between 0 and +50 °C.
To connect the box PC to the sensor and machine environment, the CPU provides two serial RS232/422/485 interfaces. The other interfaces include two DisplayPort, four USB 3.1 and two Gigabit Ethernet ports with IEEE1588 support. In addition, the system offers 3 × M.2 expansion slots, which can be used, for example, to integrate SSD storage or WWAN functionality.
