Control panel series updated
Kontron has developed a new generation of its Control Panels which, thanks to the more powerful Arm NXP i.MX8M Plus processors, provide a significant performance boost compared to previous models.
The processors enable Kontron 's new HMI solutions to provide both higher computing and graphics performance, which is increasingly in demand in areas such as device and machine control and building automation. Numerous interfaces enable communication with various fieldbuses and cloud connections. The devices can also be adapted to various requirements via the internal M.2 slot and additional expansion plugs.
When it comes to design and the available display options, Kontron focuses on compatibility: the control panels can currently be equipped with optically bonded multi-touch IPS displays in sizes between 7 and 15.6 inches and up to FHD resolution. These have a stainless steel and aluminum frame and offer protection class IP65 on the front in the standard version.
The control panels are suitable for installation in control cabinets and consoles and, with a specified ambient temperature range of 0 to +55 °C, should also feel at home in industrial environments. Alternatively, Kontron also offers the CU and CUmini DIN rail computers based on the controller boards, which are specially designed for use in edge devices. Thanks to their modular design, both the control panels and the control units can be adapted to customer-specific requirements if necessary.
Release possible with Codesys SoftPLC
The integrated software is based on Kontron's intelligent QIWI Toolkit, which enables the direct configuration and parameterization of device settings and browser properties both on the device itself and via remote access. This includes functions such as configuring the network, time and language settings and uploading certificates for secure websites. The toolkit also provides a file and package manager as well as update mechanisms. For fast and efficient implementation of sophisticated automation and visualization solutions, the control panels are available on request with Codesys SoftPLC, which can also be configured via the toolkit.
According to Kontron, the first samples of the new control panels will be available during the second quarter.
