The core of the scalable module family is the Intel Xeon D-1700 processor (codenamed 'Ice Lake D'). As a system-on-chip (SoC), it combines up to ten Xeon cores, a memory controller, high-bandwidth network functionality and PCIe root complexes on a single socket. The on-chip network controller supports up to eight Ethernet ports with different configuration options. An additional 1 Gbyte/2.5 Gbyte Ethernet port based on Intel i225 supports TSN for real-time applications. An extensive range of PCI Express lanes with Gen 4 and Gen 3 enables the connection of external hardware accelerators, FPGAs, NVMe storage and IO devices. The memory capacity of the server modules can be scaled from 8 Gbyte to 256 Gbyte via register modules (RDIMMs) or unbuffered main memory (UDIMMs).
