Bihl+Wiedemann at SPS Connect
Up to 16 digital I/Os possible
The first products in the Bihl+Wiedemann family of self-configuring I/O modules are the two ASi-5 modules BWU4230 and BWU4231 in protection class IP67, each with 16 I/Os.
Depending on the application, up to 16 digital inputs or outputs are possible, for example in the form of a connection of twelve distance sensors and four valves in a packaging machine. The possible areas of application range from motor control and signaling to control panels.
According to Bihl+Wiedemann, the modules do not have to be pre-configured for their use, and a change of use can be implemented without additional software. The channel-specific diagnostics make it possible to individually detect an output short circuit or an overload of the sensor supply at each connection.
The status of set digital outputs can be read via the cyclical feedback so that faults can be localized and rectified quickly. In both modules, the inputs and outputs are supplied from AUX, the connection to the peripherals is realized via eight 5-pin M12 sockets. The BWU4230 is connected to ASi via profile cable, the BWU4231 via M12.
