Financial year 2017 / 2018
Lenze achieves sales record
The Lenze Group successfully continued its growth trajectory in the 2017 / 2018 financial year and once again exceeded its core financial targets. Group revenue increased by 9.2 % to a new record level in the reporting year.
At EUR 741 million, Lenze 's revenue in the past financial year (May 1, 2017 - April 30, 2018) was well above expectations. Organic revenue growth, or revenue growth adjusted for currency effects, even amounted to 11.2%. Lenze also set a new record for earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), which increased by 12.3% to EUR 65.7 million. The EBIT margin rose to 8.9 %. The net profit for the year grew by 21%. The automation specialist Lenze attributes this in particular to the favorable development of the tax rate.
The strategic 'Mechatronics' and 'Automation Systems' divisions benefited from the company's growth momentum. Turnover in the future-oriented 'Digital' division also developed positively in the 2017 / 2018 financial year. Together with its two subsidiaries - the Bremen-based CPQ specialist Encoway and the Sindelfingen-based software company Logicline - Lenze says it can offer digital services and solutions along the entire value chain from a single source. This primarily includes future topics relating to Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things, such as remote and predictive maintenance, big data management and analytics, virtual reality and working with a digital twin.
Lenze achieved the largest absolute increase in sales in Europe. Asia recorded the largest percentage increase of 18.6% and sales in America remained at a high level.
An optimistic view of the future
The Executive Board believes that Lenze is strategically and financially well positioned for the future. For the 2018 / 2019 financial year, CEO Christian Wendler anticipates moderate growth in revenue and earnings. "We are pursuing our growth strategy and investing disproportionately in our sales channels, in research and development and in our range of digital services." Lenze confirms its intention to increase its turnover to € 850 million by 2020 / 2021.
