The module, which is based on the IEEE 802.11-b/g/n standard, has its own antenna on board, but can also be operated with an external antenna thanks to 'smart antenna selection'. The tinned edges enable manual soldering of the module in prototype status and automatic optical inspection (AOI) in series production. A TCP/IP stack is integrated. IPv4, IPv6 and network applications such as SNTP, DHCP, MQTT, mDNS, HTTP(S) are supported. As an alternative to the standard firmware, the customer can choose their own firmware, which is installed during production. The AT command interface enables an embedded system to be expanded to include a WLAN interface. To secure industrial Internet-of-Things applications, the WLAN module is equipped with up to six simultaneous secure sockets, secure boot, secure storage and secure OTA firmware update. The 19 mm × 27.5 mm × 4 mm module is designed for operating temperatures from -40 to +85 °C.
