Although 'Vision', the leading trade fair for machine vision in Stuttgart, had to be canceled this year due to coronavirus, the competition for the Vision Start-Up 2020 will be held on November 11. A digital pitch session will take place on this day, which will be broadcast live. The winner will be determined by the audience. The competition is organized by Messe Stuttgart together with the VDMA 's Machine Vision department. It is part of a newly created format designed to offer young companies from the machine vision industry the opportunity to present themselves to a specialist audience and gain recognition in the industrial environment.

The trade fair has issued five points as application requirements: A company must be legally independent, develop an innovative product or business model, have been founded within the last six years, have a maximum of 20 employees and have a maximum annual turnover of 5 million euros.

Applications can be submitted until October 28, 2020. The presentation language is English.

Interested start-ups can apply online at startup-pitch.vision-messe.com. The categories are Hardware, Software & AI, Data Analysis and Predictive Maintenance, Embedded, Robot Vision and Applications. Instead of a letter of application, the organizer asks for a short motivational video of no more than five minutes. Participation in the digital pitch session will be decided by a panel of experts. The winner will be chosen by the audience at the pitch session.

The first-place winner will receive free entry to Vision Start-Up World 2021 at the trade fair and will be recognized in various VDMA public relations channels.
