Basler acquires Silicon Software
The industrial camera manufacturer Basler acquires Silicon Software, a German manufacturer of image acquisition cards and software for the graphic programming of vision processors.
With this transaction, Basler is further expanding its product portfolio for computer vision applications. By combining Basler cameras with intelligent image acquisition cards from Silicon Software, customers will in future receive solutions from a single source that allow pre-processing and evaluation of image data 'on board' and open up cost-cutting potential. The graphical programming of the vision processors via Silicon Software's "VisualApplets" software leads to shorter development times and faster time-to-market cycles for customers.
The two managing directors Dr. Klaus-Henning Noffz and Dr. Ralf Lay will work for Silicon Software and Basler in the future. The takeover is effective immediately.
"The strategic orientation of both companies fits together very well. Basler and Silicon Software can now offer solutions from image acquisition to evaluation for all performance areas worldwide," explained Dr. Noffz and Dr. Lay, CEOs of Silicon Software.
Silicon Software was founded in 1997 and is based in Mannheim, Germany. With more than 50 employees, the company produces and sells both standard products and customer-specific OEM solutions for image processing applications in factory automation and medical technology. Turnover in 2017 amounted to around 8.6 million euros.
