Balluff at the SPS 2025
Integrated SWIR sensors from Sony
Balluff has integrated the three SWIR sensors IMX990, IMX992 and IMX993 from Sony into the portfolio of the 5GigE camera family 'BVS CA-GV'.
SWIR (short wave infrared) sensors enable a view of a wavelength range that is approximately 3.5 times longer than conventional sensors and capture images in the wavelength range from 400 to 1700 nm. The SWIR cameras with resolutions of 1.3 to 5.3 MPixel will be available in two designs with a front housing area of 29 mm × 29 mm and 40 mm × 40 mm: The uncooled SWIR sensors will be integrated into the 29 mm × 29 mm housing design, and cooled SWIR sensors will be added to the camera family at the end of 2025. A new cooling concept enables operation without an additional fan. Due to the sensor size, the cooled SWIR sensors can only be installed in a 40 mm × 40 mm housing. The camera family offers various configurations for digital inputs and outputs. In addition to a classic output and an input that can be switched to 5 or 24 V(DC) (TTL or PLC signal) on the software side, there are two GPIOs (General Purpose Input Output) and an RS232 interface. The GPIOs can be flexibly configured as inputs and outputs, which enables the connection of encoders. The RS232 interface is used for the parameterization of liquid lenses or flash controllers. The camera family can also be supplied with power via PoE.
