Step towards the Smart Factory

Viastore Software's Viadat warehouse software is a warehouse management system (WMS) that supports manufacturing companies in managing and controlling their material flows.

The interface to a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) allows users to connect their logistics and production processes. The connection between WMS and MES gives users greater transparency and efficiently interlinked workflows.

Both systems are equal partners, but use and generate different information. The MES knows what and how much which machine produces and which material is required when and where in production. The WMS knows where the required materials are stored and controls the supply and disposal of materials. It knows the means of transportation and the topology of the plant and can therefore control the optimum routes and times for transporting goods.

Viastore Software has realized a pilot project for a customer - the implementation of the Viadat WMS with a standardized interface to the MES, in this case 'Hydra' from MPDV Mikrolab. The combination of both systems enables lower circulating stocks and therefore more space in production, shorter throughput times and genuine traceability of goods, even with the smallest batch sizes - an important step towards the smart factory.
