Enabling companies of all sizes to create and scale software applications with the help of generative artificial intelligence is the declared aim of the partnership between Siemens and Amazon Web Services, or AWS for short. To this end, Siemens is integrating Amazon Bedrock into its low-code development platform Mendix. Bedrock is a service that offers basic AI models together with the necessary security and data protection applications as well as integrated responsible AI via an interface.

The combination enables users to select the generative AI model that best suits their specific use case and integrate it quickly and securely into their software applications. This makes app development easier and more efficient. Previously, developers who wanted to integrate generative AI models had to gain access and write special program code. With the new integration of Mendix and Amazon Bedrock, they can now do this with just a few clicks.

Mendix users are now able to use generative AI to increase the productivity of their workforce. For example, a factory worker can access machine documentation more quickly and visualize processes in an understandable way without having to search through a database, manuals and records. Similarly, generative AI could be used to suggest operational improvements that increase performance and get recommendations for equipment adjustments, maintenance or even spare parts to increase overall productivity. Customers do not need to build their own AI infrastructure.
