Practice meets perspective

Andrea Gillhuber,

How AI is shaping the industry of tomorrow

On May 21 and 22, 2025, Stuttgart will be the meeting place for specialists and managers in industrial automation: the first Industrial Technology Summit will bring together experts, innovators and decision-makers from industry, IT and manufacturing to discuss the current status and future potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

From 21 to 22 May 2025, Stuttgart will become the center for industrially used artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML): The Industrial Technology Summit 2025 will celebrate its premiere - a new, practice-oriented networking and knowledge format created by SPS and Computer&Automation together with Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. With the clear claim "Not vision, but application", the event brings together leading minds from industry, technology and research. The aim is an open and at the same time critical exchange about real use cases, potentials and limits of AI in industrial automation.

Keynote: Aspiration vs. reality

To kick off the summit on May 22, Prof. Rahman Jamal, Conscious Technology & Business Thought Leader, will talk about the reality behind the hype. His keynote speech "Artificial intelligence in disruptive times" soberly analyzes the opportunities and risks of the technology and sheds light on how much substance is actually hidden behind the often inflationary use of the term artificial intelligence. He takes a differentiated look at the myths and misunderstandings surrounding AI and sheds light on how companies can utilize its potential - beyond the hype.

Practice, not theory: impulses, deep dives and discussion

In several thematic blocks, industry experts will provide practical insights into industrial AI applications - from process optimization to human-machine interaction. Keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive formats ensure that the focus here is not on visions, but on tried-and-tested solutions.

Siemens presents the 'Industrial Copilot' - an AI-supported assistance system for accelerating engineering tasks. The generative AI accesses engineering data directly and is seamlessly integrated into the TIA portal.

In the presentation "Software development with AI agents - from idea to executable code in minutes", Talsen Team will demonstrate a system in which several specialized AI agents work together to create complete software solutions for machines - automatically, efficiently and in record time.

Mathworks demonstrates how AI applications are developed based on models and made available for industrial hardware, for example for predictive maintenance or quality control.

Microsoft explains how the use of generative AI can reduce lead times in traditional development models by up to 94% - including code generation, testing and documentation.

Beckhoff presents the use of generative AI in everyday engineering: from automatic code completion to the creation of HMI user interfaces and integration into TwinCAT.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise shows how companies can introduce AI successfully and at scale - taking into account technical, process-related and cultural challenges.

Dain Studios focuses on the transformation of work structures and role models through AI-based assistance systems. Success factors and stumbling blocks in human-AI collaboration are highlighted.

Industrial Technology Summit 2025

The Industrial Technology Summit is aimed specifically at engineers, technical managers, CTOs and digitalization experts from industry, manufacturing, logistics, IT and automation technology. Participation is worthwhile for anyone who wants to actively shape the AI transformation - in a well-founded, realistic and application-oriented manner.

  • When: May 21 - 22, 2025
  • Where? Design Offices Stuttgart Tower, Stuttgart
  • Focus: AI & machine learning in industrial applications
  • Target group: Engineers, CTOs, decision-makers from industry, automation, IT and logistics
  • Formats: Keynotes, deep dive sessions, panel discussion, topic tables, 1:1 matchmaking

One highlight will be the panel discussion "AI: From hype to reality", in which representatives from Siemens, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Beckhoff Automation and Talsen Team, among others, will present their perspectives on the practical benefits and limitations of today's AI technologies.

Another core element of the Summit is the structured 1:1 matchmaking, which enables targeted contact initiation between providers and users. The focus is on practical networking - in the spirit of sustainable technology transfer.

Theme tables: Deep diving with the specialists

In addition to the plenary session, the summit offers topic-specific exchange formats. The so-called topic tables allow in-depth discussions with experts and enable practical discussions on specific issues. Three examples:

  • AI & regulation: Fortinet sheds light on the EU AI Act - and how it is intended to promote the development of secure and trustworthy AI applications.
  • Embedded AI: Grossenbacher Systeme shows how customer-specific controllers can be designed to be scalable with AI and which KPIs need to be the focus in order to achieve real user benefits.
  • AI & Security: SSV Software Systems discusses the opportunities and risks of AI in industrial cyber security - a topic of growing relevance in networked production.
  • AI in maintenance: As the host of this theme table, Wago will guide participants through the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence in the field of maintenance and discuss the advantages and disadvantages.

Pre-event: The Smart Factory from Trumpf

The event will kick off on May 21 with an exclusive pre-event at the Trumpf Smart Factory in Ditzingen. Participants can expect a guided tour of one of the most modern production facilities in Europe - including demonstrations of AI-supported sheet metal processing, autonomous transport systems and intelligent monitoring.
