Dr. Kathrin Rückschenschmidt was named Engineer Powerwoman as part of WomenPower during the Hannover Messe Digital Edition. She holds a doctorate in physics. Even during her studies at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, she volunteered on the physics faculty council. As a women's representative, she inspired schoolgirls for the STEM subject of physics and campaigned for female students and doctoral candidates. Since 2019, she has been responsible for project portfolio management for new product developments worldwide in the Machine Automation division at energy technology manufacturer Emerson and coordinates the project managers. Before joining Emerson, Rüschenschmidt worked for Infinion Technologies as a design engineer and later as a project manager. She gained management experience at Robert Bosch as a project manager and then at Aventics, where she worked as Director Engineering until the takeover by Emerson. Last year, Rüschenschmidt founded the 'Women in STEM Chapter Laatzen' and has been committed to diversity and inclusion in companies since the beginning of her studies.

She accepted the award after speeches by Dorothea Bär, Minister of State in the Federal Chancellery and Federal Government Commissioner for Digitalization, and Angela Josephs, Deputy Chairwoman of the WomenPower Congress Advisory Board and Director Corporate Communications at Phoenix Contact.
