Eplan
Cloud service in the foreground
The full version of eManage has also been available since the release of the new Eplan 2022 platform in September. This fee-based expansion stage of the cloud software allows the first steps to be taken towards round-trip-capable engineering in automation.
To date, Eplan has enticed its customers with a free version of the eManage cloud software. This version also allows projects to be uploaded to the cloud environment, shared and managed. However, if a project is shared in the cloud, the circuit diagrams are visible - but not all of the accompanying documents. The full version goes one step further here: project participants have access to all project-relevant data and accompanying documents, such as material lists, parts list information or neutral documents in Excel. These can be exchanged on a standardized database. Thomas Michels, Senior Director Sales Development, explains: "The full overview of customer and project requirements provides greater transparency for all stakeholders involved in machine/system development." Appropriate rights management ensures that access to the data can be precisely regulated.
Master data available everywhere

© EplanToday's working world is characterized by home-working scenarios, and here users occasionally come up against system limits: Although they can access a project, they often lack the corresponding master data that is specified company-wide as the standard for design processes. The platform now offers the exchange of system-relevant master data, which can be retrieved and taken along using the 'Pack & Go' principle. This makes it very easy for project managers to provide master data centrally. Wherever a user is working: All relevant master data is accessible and does not have to be laboriously copied.
Secure access to projects
Version specifications in supplier regulations or tender texts often present project partners with the challenge of keeping several versions of the Eplan software productive. With the new version of eManage, projects from the 2022 platform can be saved in version 2.9, for example, in a backwards-compatible manner. Michels makes it clear: "This eliminates the need to maintain multiple versions without violating the terms of the contract. This simplifies the entire workflow in the supplier environment."
More memory for higher performance
With the free version, users currently have free access to 10 gigabytes of storage capacity in the Eplan Cloud. With the full version, this capacity is increased by a further 10 GB for each 'seat' in the company. This means that the additional storage space is available to everyone, and another benefit for companies is increased performance: The additional storage in the cloud is an active collaboration environment and not just pure storage capacity. This ensures optimal conditions for global collaboration across national borders. Incidentally, users of Eplan software who use the conversion package as part of the switch to subscription automatically receive access to the full version of eManage.
