CAD with Apple Vision Pro
PTC has now become the first CAD and PLM provider to launch an app for Apple Vision Pro. It transforms flat screen models into virtual products that developers can explore, take apart and test as if they had already been produced.
The Apple Vision Pro has been available in the USA since the beginning of February. The portable spatial computing system seamlessly connects digital content with the user's real environment. Thanks to high-resolution cameras, sensors and displays, users can intuitively explore images, videos, audio or text with their hands, eyes and voice.
PTC has now launched an app for the Apple Vision Pro. It transforms flat screen models into virtual products that developers can explore, take apart and test as if they had already been produced. The app automatically synchronizes with the cloud-native Onshape CAD and PDM system on the iPad, so that all changes made here are also visualized in Onshape Vision in real time.
When first used, the Onshape Vision app shows some sample CAD models. Users' own product designs are displayed as soon as an iPad on which they are saved is connected to Apple Vision Pro. Users can then change their CAD model, move it in space, zoom in and out.
For example, a product can be displayed smaller to give a better impression of the overall design. In real size, it can be visualized in the context and in the place where it will later be used to test its fit and functions. In this way, the Onshape Vision app can eliminate the need to build and transport physical prototypes.
CAD models can be viewed and reviewed as realistic 3D images with developers around the world as if they were all in the same room. Comments can be entered directly into the Onshape Vision app.
